Wolverhampton South West Conservatives selected their General Election candidate on Friday evening, they choose Paul Uppal. In the 2005 General Election he stood in a Labour held seat, the Liberal Democrats won and he came third losing vote share in the process.

The next General Election could be interesting in Wolverhampton South West, last time the Liberal Democrats took votes from both the Conservatives and Labour. Since the General Election we have improved our standing locally having knocked the Conservatives into third in Park ward and look set to improve further this May.
