The Queen

Later than it should have been but earlier than expected I saw The Queen last night with Kate. I must admit to being a little disappointed, Helen Mirren was great but I the film was hyped so much that my expectations had been raised.

It was an interesting film nonetheless, it certainly doesn't feel like almost ten years since Diana's death. I was working in Westminster at the time and being shocked by the national outpouring of grief, stepping over mounds of flowers and later on bodies to get to work. Last night I saw more of the funeral than I have ever seen!

The film was interesting from a political point of view and the interaction between Blair and the Queen, although of course we will never know the whole truth of what did happen I suspect it was fairly accurate.
