Lords don't vote to abolish themselves

Unsurprisingly the House of Lords did not vote for a fully elected second Chamber last night. The result of the votes are below. There will still be a draft Bill and reform will almost certainly appear in all three parties manifestos at the General Election, I would expect real reform to begin after that election.

By 361 to 121 in favour of a fully-appointed second chamber

By 326 to 122 against a fully-elected second chamber

By 336 to 114 against an 80% elected chamber

By 409 to 46 against a 50% elected chamber

They did not vote on a 40% elected chamber

They did not vote on a 20% elected chamber
