Liberal Democrats contest more seats then Labour nationally7.37.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Sat 14th Apr 2007 Earlier in the week I wrote a piece about how many candidates there were in the West Midlands. Dr. Mark Pack at Cowley Street has been collating the numbers of candidates standing for each of the main parties across the country, he tells me that we have beaten Labour. It varies a lot over the country and within regions between rural and more urban councils, it appears that Labour are only fielding candidates in about 60% of seats. It really does seem as though Labour have had big problems finding candidates, I am not sure but I think this is the lowest proportion Labour have fielding in a generation.
