Councillor Mike Heap was re-elected in Springvale and Robin Lawrence was elected in Park Ward at his second attempt. Labour lost four seats in total one to us and three to the Conservatives. Despite the BNP standing a number of candidates they, fortunately, failed to make any break-through and indeed fell back in the one ward they contested in 2006.

The new make-up of the Council is Labour 36, Conservative 18, Liberal Democrats 3, Liberal 1, Independent 1.
