Lembit visits Lichfield Liberal Democrats8.16.09am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 22nd Jun 2007
Last night I went to Lichfield, where the Liberal Democrats had a buffet evening with Lembit Opik MP. It was well attended with about 50-60 members and supporters attending, Lembit as normal was excellent. I have worked with the Liberal Democrats in Lichfield for a couple of years now so it was good to see them and catch up - I was particularly pleased to see Marion Bland who gained a Council seat in May just days after her husband - Jeremy - sadly passed away. Lembit made quite a wide ranging speech but rather topically spoke on coalitions and working with other parties. He shared his experiences in Wales and having to work with others, the fact we have been in Government in Scotland too but if it is mentioned for the UK as a whole then everyone gets very frightened and the media gets very silly. This week has seen some interesting developments for the Liberal Democrats and its position relating to other parties, I will write more on this tomorrow.
