It appears that it is still okay to smoke in pubs and other enclosed public places in Stoke-on-Trent after an administrative error. The ban will come into force on August 2.

The City Council thought the powers the approve the ban were delegated to a council officer, but due to Stoke having an elected Mayor they were not.
