Update on Paul Keetch MP

1.29.04pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 17th Jul 2007

Doctors at the London Chest Hospital have confirmed that Paul Keetch, MP for Hereford, suffered a ventricular arrhythmia, a rhythm disturbance of the heart, whilst on the transatlantic flight to the USA on Sunday, 8 July.

Having undergone a number of tests, doctors are now planning to fit Paul with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator [ICD], which is similar to a pacemaker.

Whilst Paul may never suffer another abnormal heart rhythm again, he will be safe in the knowledge that he has a built in life saver, should he do so.
