Whilst I wasn't quite sad enough to get the book at the stroke of Midnight (it was raining), I bought Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on Saturday. I finished it yesterday, below is some of my views on the book, I don't give it away but if you are still reading it you may decide not to read on...

The book comes in at just 600, which seems less than some of the previous books. Unlike the previous books (or at least how I remember them) it doesn't have a long (and often boring) recap of the previous book.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is a good read, I thought I knew what was going to happen and I was wrong, which is quite pleasing, although I thought I was right until almost the very end. The big fight bit, and lets face it I am not spoiling anything here - how could there not be a fight, was really good however I think it was written for cinema. On that point there were a lot of references to the fifth book, ie the last film, obvious Rowling was assuming that would be fresh in people's minds.

The last 50-or so pages were the worst, if you haven't read it yet you will know when you read it I suspect, the epilogue was particularly bad, but fortunately the rest of the book made up for it.
