Compton Park Activities Centre update

7.08.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 27th Jul 2007

The Labour run Council has now voted to close the pool and sports centre despite a motion being put forward by Councillor Robin Lawrence and the Liberal Democrats to save the pool. Both Labour Councillors in Park

Ward voted to close the pool - obviously they are more interested in serving the Labour Party than local residents.

Councillor Robin Lawrence and the Liberal Democrats identified sources of money that could have kept Compton Park open and put a motion to Council on 11th July. The Conservatives supported Robin's proposal but Labour voted against the motion. As a result the pool will now close at the end of July. Compton Park could have been kept open but Labour decided to close it.
