Labour win three seats, BNP do far to well for my liking

10.16.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 21st Sep 2007

Last night there were three by-elections in the West Midlands, all very good reading for Labour and bad reading for the Liberal Democrats and the those that don't like the BNP.

In Abbey Ward in Nuneaton Labour gained the seat from the Liberal Democrats, the BNP actually came second with the Liberal Democrats in third.

Labour - 807 votes

BNP - 457 votes

Mish Whitmore - Liberal Democrat - 409 votes

Conservatives 329 votes

Green 115 votes

Independent 10 votes

In Brandwood Ward in Birmingham Labour gained a seat from the Conservatives.

Labour - 1998 votes

Conservative - 1663 votes

BNP - 290 votes

Brian Peace - Liberal Democrat - 285 votes

Green - 193 votes

Independent - 157 votes

UKIP - 64 votes

NNP - 25 votes

In St. Clements Ward in Worcester Labour gained a seat from the Conservatives and my maths tells me that means the Conservatives have lost overall control of the Council.

Labour - 604 votes

Conservative - 478 votes

BNP - 166 votes

UKIP - 122 votes

Green - 52 votes
