Congratulations to Solihull MP Lorely Burt who last night was elected as the Chair of the House of Commons Parliamentary Party.

Responding to her appointment, Lorely Burt MP said "I am absolutely thrilled to have been elected after a close contest. The Party has a job to do: to bring Liberal Democrat policies to the forefront of British politics. In a small way I hope to be able to contribute to that."

President of the Liberal Democrats, Simon Hughes MP said "Lorely deserves hearty congratulations. She has already shown she is a popular colleague in and beyond the Liberal Democrats in the House of Commons, and she will have the support and encouragement of all other Liberal Democrat MPs."

I am a great fan of Lorely both politically and personally and wish her the best in her new role.
