Portillo talks

1.32.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 7th Feb 2008

Last night I went along to Birmingham Town Hall to hear Michael Portillo, and to see the Town Hall as I hadn't been since it had re-opened. I am secretly (well no so secret anymore) a bit of a Portillo-fan.

The show was in two halves. In the first he gave a bit of talk dealing with his personal and political history which was in places very funny. In the second he took questions, most of which were from Conservative supporters so nothing too challenging for him, sadly he didn't get to my friend's question which I am sure would have tested him a bit more.

One thing to note is he said he believes Labour will win the next General Election, although the Conservatives (he believes) will win seats they won't be able to win enough.
