No real surprise here but Dmitry Medvedev is likely to win about 70% of the vote, according to a poll by the All-Russia opinion research centre, VTsIOM. The closest rival, Communist party chief Gennady Zyuganov trailed with 16.8%, the exit poll said.

With ballots from about 15% of Russia's electoral precincts counted, Medvedev had 64.5%, according to the central election commission. Zyuganov has nearly 20%, it said.
