Hillary wins three Barack wins one

1.08.00pm GMT Wed 5th Mar 2008

In an amazing contest, Hillary Clinton won three of the vote contests yesterday taking Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island - Barack Obama won in Vermont, it is possible Obama could still win more delegate in Texas than Clinton due to a hybrid system of a Primary and a Caucus. Neither Clinton or Obama are anywhere near having enough delegates to be sure of victory nest.

In Texas Clinton took 51% to Obama's 47%. In Ohio Clinton took 55% to Obama's 43%. In Rhode Island Clinton took 58% to Obama's 40%. In Rhode Island Obama won with 60% to Clinton's 38%.

In terms of delegates all the counts still have Obama ahead from 61 delegates with MSNBC to 106 delegates with ABC. Most show a range of Obama being ahead between 86 to 92 delegates.

The next contests will be in Wyoming on March 8 and then Mississippi on March 11 - the combined number of delegates from these states is just 45. The next 'big' state is Pennsylvania with 158 delegates on April 22.
