Lembit Opik MP

Yesterday we had Lembit Opik visit Wolverhampton to help in our local election campaign.

As part of our media work we set up a photo for the local newspaper the Express and Star. They came along talked to Lembit took a photo of Lembit and him with the local candidate Zahid Shah - all good you would think.

The story they have run with is that Lembit's fiancee Gabriela Irimia was shopping in town, Lembit mentioned that she was shopping to the journalist so I guess we can't complain. What I am annoyed about it the journalist rung to ask if they could have a photo of Gabriela shopping, we politely said no - so they went out and took one anyway of her just in the street.

I understand journalism to an extent, but if you ask and are told no surely you should leave it, it is just rude to ignore our request. Gabriela was minding her own business in the City centre - is she not allowed any privacy?
