Results from around the West Midlands10.27.00am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 5th May 2008 Now the all the election results are in it is time to look at what happened across the West Midlands. In Birmingham the Liberal Democrats gained a seat in Tyburn ward - a real testament to Ann Holtam and her team. The Tories gain six seats from Labour and Respect also gained a seat. In Coventry the Liberal Democrats held our one ward (we had lost it by three votes last year), Labour won one seat from the Conservatives meaning the Council goes No Overall Control. In Dudley the Liberal Democrats lost all three seats they were defending, two to the Conservatives and one to UKIP. In Sandwell the Liberal Democrats held both their seats that were up this time, I believe with increased majorities. Labour lost three to the Conservatives. In Solihull the Liberal Democrats gained a seat in the Solihull constituency but sadly lost one in Meriden (losing a bloody good Councillor at that. The Labour leader lost to the Greens and another seats to the Conservatives. The Conservatives gained the Council from No Overall Control. In Walsall, rather boringly, no seats changed hands. I think I mentioned we gained a seat in Wolverhampton, the Tories also gained and the Council is now No Overall Control. In Stoke on Trent the Liberal Democrats made a net gain of one, the BNP made three gains as did the Independents. In Cannock the Conservatives gained two from Labour, leaving the Council hung with 15 Labour, 14 Liberal Democrat and 12 Conservatives. In Nuneaton and Bedworth Labour lost six, four to the Conservatives and two to the BNP. In Redditch Labour lost four to the Conservatives and the Conservatives gained the Council from No Overall Control. In Rugby the Liberal Democrats lost a seat to the Conservatives. In Stratford on Avon the Liberal Democrats made a huge five gains from the Conservatives. there are still no Labour Councillors in the area! In Tamworth the Conservatives gained a seat from Labour. In Worcester, like Walsall there was no change in seats. In Wyre Forest the Conservatives gained four, one from Labour, one from the Liberals and two from the Independents. The Conservatives gained the Council from No Overall Control.
