Turning to Labour...1.25.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 29th Jul 2008
In Nick Clegg's summer message he has announced the Liberal Democrats are going to up the campaign in Labour areas. I am very happy to hear this (not just because I live in a seat currently represented by Labour in Westminster) and expect it to result in a large number of gains at the next General Election. Below is the list of top 50 Labour-held seats in the order of winnability (with percentage swing needed) based on the Rallings and Thrasher's projection of the new boundaries. Clearly this is not the actual list of targets as it takes no account of what is happening on the ground - if I had that list the last thing I would do would be to publish it on the internet! 1 - Rochdale (0.17 per cent) - Currently Liberal Democrat, notionally Labour with boundary changes. 2 - Oxford East (0.37 per cent) 3 - Edinburgh South (0.47 per cent) 4 - Hampstead & Kilburn (0.57 per cent) 5 - Islington South & Finsbury (0.78 per cent) 6 - Watford (1.17 per cent) 7 - Ealing Central & Acton (1.37 per cent) 8 - Aberdeen South (1.62 per cent) 9 - Edinburgh North & Leith (2.52 per cent) 10 - City of Durham (3.69 per cent) 11 - Norwich South (3.70 per cent) 12 - Leicester South (4.39 per cent) 13 - Liverpool Wavertree (4.45 per cent) 14 - Oldham East & Saddleworth (5.19 per cent) 15 - Northampton North (5.86 per cent) 16 - Glasgow North (5.98 per cent) 17 - Swansea West (6.45 per cent) 18 - Blaydon (6.87 per cent) 19 - Bradford East (7.12 per cent) 20 - Derby North (7.29 per cent) 21 - Burnley (7.41 per cent) 22 - Sheffield Central (7.56 per cent) 23 - Bristol North West (7.64 per cent) 24 - Stirling (7.64 per cent) 25 - Edinburgh East (7.81 per cent) 26 - Birmingham Hall Green (7.95 per cent) 27 - Brentford & Isleworth (8.01 per cent) 28 - East Lothian (8.32 per cent) 29 - Colne Valley (8.38 per cent) 30 - Newcastle-upon-Tyne North (8.42 per cent) 31 - Birmingham Hodge Hill (8.52 per cent) 32 - Warrington South (8.60 per cent) 33 - Pendle (8.61 per cent) 34 - Streatham (8.73 per cent) 35 - Plymouth Sutton & Devonport (9.03 per cent) 36 - Aberdeen North (9.27 per cent) 37 - Edinburgh South West (9.36 per cent) 38 - Holborn & St Pancras (9.48 per cent) 39 - Brent Central (9.51 per cent) 40 - Lewisham West & Penge (9.57 per cent) 41 - Midlothian (9.63 per cent) 42 - Manchester Gorton (9.80 per cent) 43 - Aberconwy (10.00 per cent) 44 - Southampton Test (10.05 per cent) 45 - Birmingham Perry Barr (10.11 per cent) 46 - Luton South (10.13 per cent) 47 - Brighton Pavilion (10.18 per cent) 48 - Penistone & Stocksbridge (10.21 per cent) 49 - Bridgend (10.43 per cent) 50 - Newcastle-upon-Tyne East (10.48 per cent)
