Wearing your England shirt with pride?10.06.18am BST (GMT +0100) Sun 7th Sep 2008 Last night a group of us went to see the Andorra - England game in town, the football was rubbish but that is not what annoyed me. The pub, which remember decided to show the football, had a bouncer outside who asked me to put my jumper over my England shirt. Those that know me know I am highly unlikely to start a fight (in a pub or anywhere else!) but I can understand if they had a policy of no football shirts, they don't and never have before. I can also understand such a policy if you perhaps have fans from both teams wearing their football shirts, but I didn't see anyone wearing an Andorra shirt - oddly I was probably the most likely person in the pub to be supportive of Andorra as I actually know a couple of Andorrans. The whole attitude was wrong, of course no fights actually took place in the pub there were some idiots in there who were behaving badly - but they weren't wearing England shirts. I'll be going back in on Wednesday, hopefully the shirts won't be an issue. I like the pub, not just for football (although I think it is the best pub in town to watch it) but if that is the way they want to treat England fans who want to wear their England shirts and have some pride I may have to stop drinking there altogether.
