Last night we had the Wolverhampton South West Liberal Democrat Executive at which I was able to welcome Walker Darke as the newest Liberal Democrat Councillor in Wolverhampton South West.
Walker has been elected as one of the two Youth Councillors for Wolverhampton South West. Walker Darke, the youngest member of Wolverhampton South West Liberal Democrats. Walker is the son of Park Ward Councillor Claire Darke and Dr Paul Darke. He attends St. Edmund's School.
A total of 18 Youth Councillors are elected for a term of one year. Youth Council members are co-opted onto the Children and Young Peoples Scrutiny Panel, attend the Sustainable Communities Scrutiny Panel and are involved in the Youth Facilities Scrutiny Reviews.
The Youth Councillors will have the opportunity to influence council decisions through the Scrutiny process and through regular meetings with Cabinet Members and the Leader of the council. The Youth Council is an independent voluntary organisation which has its own offices located at Bond House, Bond Street and it appoints its own officers.
