It looks like the Identity Card plan has now been defeated.

I wonder if Alan Johnson and the Labour Party realised the civil liberty impact or have accepted the country is broke. I suspect Johnson was happy to get rid of it with a view to a future Labour Leadership election.

Let's hope it has truly been defeated rather than just postponed.
