I am the Liberal Democrat Candidate for Wolverhampton North East6.00.00pm GMT Tue 9th Mar 2010
As of yesterday I am the Liberal Democrat Candidate for Wolverhampton North East for the forthcoming General Election, probably due on 6 May. Many readers may recall I was the Liberal Democrat Candidate in Wolverhampton South West at the last General Election. Due to boundary changes some of those electors that were in Wolverhampton South West at the last General Election are now in Wolverhampton North East so there will be some continuity. Wolverhampton South West have selected Councillor Robin Lawrence to stand for them at this General Election. I suspect I could put a good claim in to be the 'localist' candidate. The current MP Ken Purchase is retiring and the Labour Candidate whilst has some local connections is I believe from Staffordshire and has spent most of her adult life outside of Wolverhampton. The Conservative Candidate is from Dover and appears to have little links to Wolverhampton. Being local, however, will not be the focus of my campaign. I will be highlighting how we have been let down by Labour and that it is the Liberal Democrats an not the Conservatives that have the answers on the big issues like the economy, the environment and the UK's place in the world.
